Jonathan S. Turner
Jonathan Shields Turner is a Senior Professor at Washington University in St. Louis and the previous holder of two endowed professorships there.〔.〕 His research interests include the design and analysis of high performance routers and switching systems, extensible communication networks and analysis of algorithms.
Turner did his undergraduate studies at Oberlin College, and joined the Washington faculty in 1983,〔 but did not earn his doctorate until 1992, from Northwestern University under the supervision of Hal Sudborough.
In 1994, he received the IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award for his work on the design of multicast switching systems.〔(List of Kobayashi Award recipients ), retrieved 2015-06-28.〕 He has been awarded more than 25 patents for his work in this area and has many widely cited publications. He became a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery in 2001 "for fundamental contributions --- such as the design of scalable packet switches --- that helped realize the vision of an Integrated packet switching network for data, voice and video",〔(ACM Fellows award citation ), retrieved 2015-06-28.〕 and he is also a Fellow of the IEEE.〔
